Snickerdoodles

So for the first post to Duffee-Braun Cooking, we make Snickerdoodles!

It took a bit of searching to find a recipe that didn't call for Cream of Tartar, so this may not be true Snickerdoodle action, but the cookies are fluffy and taste like the genuine article.

So - first - ingredients:

Cookie:
1/2 c butter (softened)
3/4 c sugar
1 egg
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1 2/3 c flour

Topping:
1:1.5 mixture of cinnamon and sugar
Snickerdoodles: Ingredients

I started out with 1 tsp of cinnamon and 1.5 tsp of sugar, and needed more, but as long as the ratio is the same you'll be good to go.

On to the cooking! Preheat oven to 375 and start mixing ingredients....
Mix sugar and butter Snickerdoodles: Butter and Sugar
Add egg and beat until creamy Snickerdoodles: Butter and Sugar Mixed
Add baking powder, salt, and flour
Mix until you have cookie dough!
Roll teaspoon-sized dough balls through the cinnamon & sugar and place on greased cookie sheet
Smoosh with the flat bottom of a glass just a little bit to encourage the classic Snickerdoodle crackling on top
Bake at 375 for 10 minutes and then cool on racks

Done and tasty!
